What we believe in

At Lily O’Brien’s, we are passionate about creating delicious and innovative chocolate recipes. From food-inspired flavours to much-loved classics, we aim to bring care, creativity and quality to every collection.

Our Research and Development team is always exploring new ideas, taking inspiration from trends, ingredients and flavour combinations from around the world.

Ingredients, sourcing and sustainability

We believe great chocolate should be made with care, from the ingredients we use to the way we make and package our products.

Our chocolates are made in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland, where craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail have shaped the brand from the beginning. As part of Colian Group, a family-owned business with 12 production sites across Germany, Poland and Ireland, Lily O’Brien’s combines the values of a family business with the scale and support to keep investing in our Newbridge factory and in the future of the brand.

In 2025, our Newbridge factory produced close to 141 million chocolates, reflecting the scale, expertise and care behind every box.

Lily O’Brien’s Newbridge is also part of the Origin Green sustainability programme, Ireland’s national food and drink sustainability initiative, which supports businesses in making measurable progress over time.

Our approach to palm oil

Palm oil is not used in Lily O’Brien’s chocolate, and our milk, dark and white chocolate do not contain palm oil as an added ingredient.

Where palm oil is used in our products, it is only within certain fillings or decorative inclusions supplied by our ingredient partners, such as some chocolate or lemon fillings and meringue pieces.

Any ingredient we use that contains palm oil is made with segregated RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil.

The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global organisation that sets standards for more responsibly sourced palm oil. RSPO certification means that the palm oil has met defined environmental and social criteria, has been independently audited, and is supplied through a tracked certified supply chain.

What does segregated RSPO-certified mean?

It means the palm oil comes only from certified sustainable sources and is kept physically separate from non-certified palm oil throughout the supply chain, including processing, transport, storage and manufacturing. This means the palm oil used in the final ingredient is 100% certified sustainable palm oil.

At Lily O’Brien’s, we only work with ingredient suppliers who are RSPO certified. For more information about sustainable palm oil, please visit the RSPO website.

Progress at our Newbridge site

We continue to take practical steps at our factory in Newbridge to support a more sustainable way of working. These include installing solar panels at the site, planting 500 trees on site, and continuing to improve our packaging, with 80% of our packaging recyclable.

We know sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to making considered choices across our ingredients, packaging and operations.
